| Prep for Prep develops leaders through access to superior education and life-changing opportunities. Since 1978, Prep has identified New York City’s most promising students of color and prepared them for placement at independent schools in the city and boarding schools throughout the Northeast. Once placed, Prep offers support and opportunities to ensure the academic accomplishment and personal growth of each one of our students.
More than 4,000 members of the Prep Community, who are rapidly assuming leadership positions in a wide variety of endeavors, are living proof that the potential for academic and professional success exists in all ethnic groups and socioeconomic classes. Our students, who come from modest backgrounds, succeed at the best independent schools in New York City, the top boarding schools in the country, and the most prestigious colleges and universities in the world.
Prep has officially joined Facebook and Twitter. Visit us to get updates on the program.

Meet three Prep alums who grew up on the same Bronx street in this video shown at the 2012 Lilac Ball | | Mission Statement Prep for Prep is a long-term investment strategy to develop the leadership potential of able young people from segments of society grossly under-represented in the leadership pool from which all of our major institutions draw. By expanding the nation’s leadership resources, we aim to impact indirectly on a set of inter-related problems that threaten to rend our society. |

About Our Motto From their first orientation meeting, Prep students are taught our motto: Excellence, Integrity, Commitment, Courage. The motto, which is featured in our seal, becomes a touchstone—values that shape their actions and the Prep for Prep Community as a whole. Prep students and alumni strive to embody these four words in everything they do. |
