Prep for Prep Invited to Nasdaq's Closing Bell Ceremony
Prep students in our Institute for Entrepreneurship (IFE) program rang the Nasdaq Closing Bell in Times Square.
In honor of the occasion, Dale Allsopp (VII/Calhoun '91, Wesleyan '95) MBA, Penn '01, a Prep alum and Prep’s Corporate Trustee representing Google, and Nia Froome (XXVII/Poly Prep '11, Yale '15), Account Manager at Google and former IFE winner, joined 29 Prep students to ring Nasdaq’s Closing Bell. The ceremony was broadcast on major networks including Bloomberg, Business News Network, CNBC, and Fox.
Prep for Prep’s Institute for Entrepreneurship (IFE) is an intensive and practical five-week introduction to the business world by means of a course in fundamental entrepreneurship for rising tenth and eleventh graders. During the course of the IFE, students learn basic business and economic concepts and how to create their own business plans. Students are paired with mentors from Google NYC who provide feedback to the students on their business ideas and pitches, and instructors from Upperline Code who provide coding instruction and technical assistance. The experience culminates in a business plan competition for seed money to invest in their businesses.
