Welcome Newly Elected and Appointed Board and Associates Council Members

Prep for Prep is pleased to welcome four new members to its Board of Trustees and Associates Council.

Board of Trustees
 
Imani Dawson
(IX/Spence '93, Penn '97) 
Since launching TCC Media, a MWBE-certified boutique communications and branding agency, Imani has championed diverse audiences with over two decades of experience creating and curating award-winning content for major media outlets including MTV, BET, and the Associated Press. She also advises elected officials, nonprofit organizations, and small businesses. Most recently, Imani led communications efforts for Mount Vernon Mayor Shawyn Patterson-Howard, whose historic victory made her the first woman of color elected to mayoral office in Westchester County.

Thomas Alston
(XXII/RCDS ‘05, Columbia ‘10)
Thomas returns to Prep for Prep after serving as Alumni Affairs Coordinator nearly ten years ago. Since then, he has founded education consulting firm Winning Strategy Group, and served as an Analyst for Och-Ziff Capital Management before joining The Blackstone Group as an Associate. 

Marissa Alter-Nelson 
Marissa is a partner in the litigation group of Sidley’s New York office and Co-Chair of Sidley’s New York Summer Associate Programs Committee. She received her BA from the University of California, Santa Barbara and earned a JD from NYU School of Law. Marissa maintains an active pro bono practice and was the recipient of the 2011 Commitment to Justice Award for Outstanding Legal Team, presented by inMotion (now Her Justice), a leading nonprofit legal services provider that helps low-income women in New York.

Shaimaa Hussein 
Shaimaa is a partner in the Litigation Department at Willkie Farr & Gallagher. In 2018, she was the recipient of the Federal Bar Council’s Thurgood Marshall Award and the New York State Bar Association’s President’s Pro Bono Service Award. Stony Brook University, where she received her BA in Political Science, also named her among their “40 Under Forty” for her contributions to the legal field. She was named “Litigator of the Week” by The American Lawyer in 2017 for her role in reuniting an Iranian child with her mother in the U.S. to proceed with vision-saving surgery. She earned her JD from Georgetown University Law Center.
