Prep Student Nominated for Presidential Scholars Award

Prep for Prep and Collegiate senior Kevin Su (XXVIII) was nominated for the United States Presidential Scholars Award, which honors the most distinguished high school seniors in the nation for academic excellence and leadership in their communities. Over 3,000 students across the nation are nominated each year based on exceptional SAT or ACT scores. Up to 141 students become finalists and are named Presidential Scholars.
In addition to scoring a perfect 2400 on his SATs, Kevin is Co-President of both the Asian Cultural Society and the Gay Straight Alliance at Collegiate. He is also Editor-in-Chief of the school’s Latin and Ancient Greek literary magazine. He spent spring breaks at an orphanage in the Dominican Republic, teaching English and renovating the facilities. Prep is proud of Kevin’s accomplishments and wishes him the best in the final selection process.

The United States Presidential Scholars Program was established to recognize and honor some of the nation’s most accomplished and inspiring graduating high school seniors. After a rigorous selection and review process by the White House Commission on Presidential Scholars and the US Department of Education, one male and one female student are chosen from each state (as well as from the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and Americans living abroad), along with a handful of students in the arts, on the basis of outstanding scholarship, service, leadership, and creativity. The program has honored over 6,000 scholars since its inception in 1964.
