Starting a Tech Career: Q&A with Prep Alum Rolanda Evelyn (XXVIII)

Online publishing platform Medium interviewed recent college graduate Rolanda Evelyn (XXVIII/Poly Prep '12, Penn '16) about her transition to a tech career at Google. She got her start through a Prep for Prep Google Symposium program for high school students.
“The funny thing is that tech was never a part of my plan. But Google’s smart. They catch you early, and then how could you ever want to leave?”

While still interested in media and fashion, Rolanda began to explore other opportunities and was later invited to apply for an internship with Google. “I wouldn’t have stumbled upon the opportunity otherwise,” she said. She interned in the company’s Product Public Relations department. “Needless to say, I loved it.”

Rolanda is Associate Product Marketing Manager at YouTube and Founder of fashion and lifestyle blog “leave a little sparkle.”
