Math and Humanities Teaching Assistant for Academic Enrichment
Today, Prep’s more than 4,000 alumni serve in leadership roles in nearly every industry and facet of society, including education, business, finance, law, technology, media, government, charitable organizations, and the arts.
The Opportunity: The Teaching Assistant will serve as a program monitor, providing support to the Math and Humanities teachers and offering academic and social assistance to students.
The program is scheduled to run from July 6, 2026, to July 31, 2026, with working hours from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
This position reports to the Director of Post-Placement Counseling.
Essential Duties for a Teaching Assistant include:
- Assist the Math and Humanities teachers during class
- Maintain attendance records, including contact with family when necessary
- Monitor the distribution of OMNY passes
- Facilitate emergent situations with students
- Supervise students during lunch
- Communicate daily with the Post-Placement department
Required Skills, Experience, and Competencies include:
- 1 to 2 years of prior experience with advising, mentoring, or teaching middle or high school students
- Previous experience attending, working with, or working for independent schools preferred
- Sound judgment, compassion, a self-directed work ethic, and a commitment to achieving Prep for Prep’s Mission
- Proactive, creative, and takes a solutions-based approach to problem-solving
- Self-motivated and have the ability to work independently
- Team player and enjoys working in collaboration with others towards a common goal
- Embody and advocate for Prep for Prep’s values of Excellence, Integrity, Commitment, Courage, and Community
- Demonstrates sensitivity to issues relating to Prep’s student population
