Summer School Nurse
Today, Prep’s more than 4,000 alumni serve in leadership roles in nearly every industry and facet of society, including education, business, finance, law, technology, media, government, charitable organizations, and the arts.
Position Summary: Prep for Prep is looking for 2 summer school nurses to oversee the healthcare of its students. The ideal candidate has demonstrated proficiency in collecting and evaluating healthcare forms for students, ensuring adherence to all local and national health regulations, and treating students with injuries, sudden ailments, chronic illnesses, and disabilities, administering medications as needed.
Program Details
- Manhattan Locations: Trinity School and The Collegiate School
- Up to 250 elementary school, middle school, and high school students
- Preliminary Program dates:
- Available for training starting June 1st
- Start Date: June 15th, and includes attending student orientations on June 16th and June 18th in the evening; some remote work also required
- Program Dates: Monday, June 29th – August 17 or 18 (depending on the site)
- Depending on the site, attending Welcome Picnic on either Saturday, June 20 or 27
- Program Hours: Monday – Friday, 8:30 am – 5:00 pm
- Must be available to collect healthcare documentation prior to program start dates.
- Must be available for training via Zoom prior to the start of the program
Responsibilities
- Provide basic healthcare to students in the case of injury or acute illness
- Ensure a safe environment for children that complies with national and local health laws, and promote an optimal level of wellness
- Consult with parents, teachers, and program administrators regarding student care.
- Proficiency in collecting and evaluating students’ medical histories and other paperwork, including vaccination records.
- Develop and implement health plans for students with specific health needs
- Administer medication, take temperatures, bandage wounds, and carry out other healthcare procedures
- Provide referrals for students to pediatricians and other health specialists when necessary.
- Plan and implement school health management protocols and procedures for both routine and emergency situations.
Required Qualifications
- Qualified to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State
- Current nursing license by regulatory board in the United States
- BLS/CPR certification
- Ability to assess situations and act quickly
- Excellent organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Well-versed in many areas of healthcare, including mental health
- Knowledge of national and local health regulations

REMINDER: Candidates must be available for training (via Zoom) and collecting health care forms prior to the program start date.
Compensation: $2,000 per week (prorated for partial weeks).
