PREP 9 Contingent XXXIII Begin the Next Chapter of Their Prep Journey

The leaves are changing, the days are getting shorter, and the cool air tells us it’s time to go back to school! At the end of summer, 49 PREP 9 students earned places in top boarding schools throughout the Northeast. While these students were finishing up the final two months of their 14-month Preparatory Component program, educational institutions across the country were prepping for a safe return to their facilities. New safety measures include masks, temperature checks, regular COVID-19 testing, sanitation stations, and outdoor classrooms. Due to these new safety measures, students may have had to add a few more essentials to the packing list, but settling into their dorms went without a hitch. 

Move-in days were staggered throughout the past few months for new and returning students.  Boarding school faculty and staff were ready and waiting in masks that boasted their schools’ colors and signs to “Welcome Home!” the students and their families. At Phillips Academy Andover, their mascot showed off some of his dance moves and The Hill School held several outdoor activities for students to get to know each other before the start of in-person classes. While this may be the first time for some students to live away from home, the support from their boarding schools, older PREP 9 students, and our Post-Placement counselors will help ensure a smooth transition. We know that our PREP 9 students are excited to finally be on campus this semester and more than ready to rise to the challenge of a fall term like no other.
