Meet Prep for Prep’s New Director of Undergraduate Affairs, Corey Rhoades
Corey Rhoades joins Prep for Prep as the Director of Undergraduate Affairs. In this role, he will oversee the department that supports Prep students after high school graduation.
Prep for Prep is pleased to welcome Corey Rhoades as Director of Undergraduate Affairs. Corey joins Prep after serving in several different roles in higher education, most recently as the Student Engagement Manager at Georgetown University’s Beeck Center for Social Impact + Innovation in Washington, D.C.
While pursuing his master’s degree at Vanderbilt University, Corey implemented research-driven programming to enroll, engage, and support historically underrepresented students from Metro Nashville Public Schools as part of the Bridges to Belmont scholarship program. When the COVID-19 pandemic abruptly closed university campuses, he had the extraordinary opportunity to join the GovEx team at Johns Hopkins University, interacting with mayors and Chief Data Officers all over the world to improve their data governance practices amidst the ongoing public health crisis. At Georgetown, he recruited students across the university to work on projects centered on the transformational role of data and technology in the public sector.
“After several years at the nexus of higher education and public policy, I am eager to bring my expertise back in support of undergraduate students,” Corey said. “For years, I have been drawn to Prep’s mission, alumni network, and role as a leader in the field. Our work remains vital – even urgent – as we await the Supreme Court’s decision, which could restrict or eliminate affirmative action in college admissions.”
Corey received a B.A. in Hispanic Studies and Religion from Pepperdine University and an M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration from Vanderbilt University, Peabody College. The Director of Undergraduate Affairs is part of Prep for Prep’s Leadership Development Opportunities department. In his role, Corey will oversee the programming for Prep for Prep students after high school graduation and the team’s Undergraduate Affairs Officers. Undergraduate Affairs programming includes monthly check-ins with currently enrolled undergraduate students, school visits, and the Near-Peer Mentor Program.
