Alumni Programs Manager

Prep for Prep is a premier educational and leadership development program that develops ethical and effective leaders who reflect our diverse society. Prep identifies New York City's most promising students, prepares them to excel at the nation's top independent schools, and supports their academic, professional, and personal growth through middle school, high school, college graduation, and beyond. A core component of the Prep for Prep experience is The Preparatory Component, a rigorous 14-month course that prepares students academically and socially to excel in an independent school.
 
Today, Prep's more than 4,000 alumni serve in leadership roles in nearly every industry and facet of society, including education, business, finance, law, technology, media, government, charitable organizations, and the arts.

Position Summary
The Alumni Programs Manager strengthens professional advancement and leadership development on behalf of Prep for Prep’s 4,000+ alumni to demonstrate the value of the Alumni Association and encourage participation in the Alumni Giving Campaign. The Alumni Programs Manager reports to the Director of Alumni Affairs.
 
Responsibilities for this role include, but are not limited to, these primary areas

Alumni Professional Advancement and Leadership Development
  • Manage and support alumni career programming, including the second and subsequent cohorts of the early-career Warner Music Fellowship.
  • Research and source professional advancement and leadership opportunities for alumni at all levels.
  • Track alumni accomplishments, including fellowships, advanced degrees, and awards.
Volunteer Management
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Alumni Affinity Group Leaders, encouraging engaging programs from each group annually.
  • Identify alumni whose accomplishments align with student and alumni interests and make connections when appropriate.
  • Maintain and update alumni information in the appropriate database, Mailchimp, and the Prep website.
Event Management
  • Use data to inform the creation of an annual events calendar to engage diverse alumni interests alongside the Director of Alumni Affairs and the Development & Special Events Manager.
  • Execute and attend all Alumni Association professional networking events, including preparing invitations, tracking attendance, completing event set up, and creating related documents.
  • Attend all Alumni Association events alongside the Director of Alumni Affairs and complete related tasks as assigned.
Communications
  • Manage the Alumni LinkedIn Page and Group; ensure a weekly content strategy and maintain engagement.
  • Ensure the timely communication of targeted professional opportunities via email and/or social media.
  • Work with the Director of Communications to identify alumni professional accomplishments for social media and news stories.
  • Ensure the Prep events calendar is regularly updated with alumni events.
 
Skills, Experience, and Competencies
  • College graduate; 2-3 years of alumni relations, development, and/or program management experience preferred.
  • Proficiency and comfort with technology, including the Raiser’s Edge database, Salesforce, Google Suite, social networking sites, Mailchimp, and Canva.
  • Excellent organizational skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple projects from start to finish and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively in person, on the phone, and through written correspondence with alumni, staff, and outside vendors.
  • Ability to work above and beyond regular hours, including regular evenings and some weekends, as events require; regional travel.
  • Moderate level of physical activity is required.
  • Discretion and tact in handling confidential information.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented work style.
  • Enthusiasm, patience, flexibility, and a sense of humor.

Compensation: $75,000-$80,000 based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.
