Summary 

Avenues: The World School seeks a Director of Deans and College Counseling - the senior school leader who ensures that Avenues graduates leave the school on their way to well-chosen highereducation, after thriving academically, socially and emotionally at Avenues. The DDCC manages a team of eight, including seven upper and middle school deans and an administrative assistant. What Will You Do?

Ensure that graduates matriculate to higher education
  • Lead all aspects of the college counseling strategy, ensuring each student matriculates into a well-chosen, great-fit college or university where they will thrive
  • Create and nurture relationships with key colleges and universities, ensuring that they understand and value Avenues' unique approach
  • Execute the college counseling strategy, ensuring students achieve key curriculum benchmarks and assessment outcomes
  • Produce the materials and resources needed to support the college strategy
Manage an outstanding team 
  • Manage a highly engaged, high-performing team of deans of students to meet ambitious goals for student success and parent satisfaction
  • Ensure that each dean is performing at a high level, engaged and growing professionally
Be a leader and a learner
  • Continually develop and improve the dean team and college counseling program
  • Serve on the campus leadership team along with other senior administrators
  • Participate in a global college team with colleagues from other campuses, for mutuallearning and refining our practices for college preparation
When And Where Will This Happen?

Each Avenues campus will have a Director of Deans and College Counseling. Avenues currently has one campus in New York City and plans to open more in Brazil, China, the U.S. and Europe in the coming years. Who Are You?

You've been a guru and guide for students in college admissions for a number of years already, and you're still relentlessly curious and passionate about it. You don't do cookie-cutter: your kids are all different, so each one should attend a place that's right for them. It makes perfect sense to you why a school would integrate deans and college counseling. You communicate about students and education in lucid, compelling ways with families and colleges. You're always helping 
colleagues learn and grow. And you believe that education and college admissions are ripe for big changes, and you want to work on making them happen.

Key Qualifications 
You:
  • Bring 7+ years of professional experience in college counseling and/or admissions
  • Have a sophisticated understanding of college admissions, especially with selective schools
  • Communicate educational nuances precisely and compellingly to families and colleges
  • Build highly effective teams and manage them to great results
  • Lead effectively through relationships, persuasion and influence
  • Get the important work done in a fast-moving, collaborative and dynamic environment
