Brooklyn Heights Montessori School: Communications Associate

Overview

The Communications Associate reports to the Director of Institutional Advancement and is responsible for all school-wide communications, marketing, social media, and branding for Brooklyn Heights Montessori School. Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Communications: 
  • Review and approve all written communications in the school community, especially letters, newsletters, print publications, and summer mailings
  • Compile, draft, edit, and oversee design and printing for school news magazine
  • Attend various school events and track of school happenings for social media, website content, and news publications
  • Drive website content, visuals, and updates to attract more traffic to the site
  • Collaborate with Director of Institutional Advancement on giving reports and promotional materials for any annual or capital campaigns
  • Provide proofing, editing assistance for all letters (Head of School, BHMF, etc.)
Marketing: 
  • Collaborate with Director of Admissions and the Director of Athletics and Ancillary Programs to produce related marketing materials, both printed and electronic
  • Coordinate design and copy for annual curriculum guide
  • Advertising - printed and web-based - monitor and track quality and effectiveness of the resource mix/portfolio
  • Create videos to use for communications and marketing across all programs
Social Media: 
  • Maintain an active social media presence for the school on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter
  • Use Hootesuite to drive social media strategy across all channels and discover trends
  • Engage with Alumni to keep school connection
  • Engage with current Middle School students to participate in social media strategy
Branding:
  • Coordinate with Senior Administrators to ensure consistency of message and brand in all related materials (Camp, After-school, Athletics, etc.)
  • Coordinate design for various printed materials (invitations, stationery, etc.)
  • Create attractive and appropriate promotional merchandise for various programs within the school (Advancement, Admissions, Athletics, etc.)
Requirements: 
  • BA/BS and two years experience in development, communications, and/or marketing
  • Excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  • Up to date social media skills
  • Organizational competency and desire to work in a collaborative environment
  • Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Flexible schedule
  • Strong work ethic and sense of humor
