Prep for Prep’s 2017 Annual Report celebrates those alumni who have chosen public service as their lives’ work.
The theme of this year’s report, “Change Makers,” celebrates Prep for Prep alumni who have chosen public service as their lives’ work. At a time when faith in our public institutions is at an all-time low, their stories are cause for great hope. While hundreds of Prep alums are involved in many different forms of public service, the report focused on these four:
WASHINGTON, D.C. Kristen Clarke (P9 II/Choate '93, Harvard '97) JD, Columbia '00, President & Executive Director of Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, combats injustice and discrimination across the nation.
BOSTON, MA As Director of Growth Strategies at the Boston Mayor's Office of Economic Development, Shaun Blugh (XVIII/Buckley '99, Andover '03, Georgetown '07) brings new jobs to the city while diversifying its workforce.
HONOLULU, HI A climate justice advocate and law professor at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa, Maxine Burkett (X/Spence '94, Williams '98) JD, UC Berkeley '02 combines academia and law to mitigate the effects of climate change on our most vulnerable global communities.
SACRAMENTO, CA Anthony Wright (V/Riverdale '89, Amherst '93), Executive Director of Health Access, advocates for health care consumer protections and fights to provide insurance coverage to California’s children and families.
The achievements detailed in this report are made possible by the incredible generosity and commitment of Prep’s donors, alumni, independent schools, colleges, employers, and friends. View the report here.
