Becoming Global Citizens: 23 Prep Students Travel Abroad

Through our partnerships with Student Diplomacy Corps, Calder Classics, and Amigos de las Americas, 23 Prep for Prep students traveled abroad to 13 countries this summer.
From dancing the flameco in Spain to climbing the Great Wall of China, 23 Prep students enjoyed opportunities to explore different cultures, learn new languages, and perform valuable community service around the world.

Through Calder Classics, high school junior Sonnet Carter (XXXV/Saint Ann's) studied abroad in Thessaloniki, the second largest city in Greece. “At the end of this intensive program studying Greek for four hours a day, I was translating texts from Greek to Latin to English. It was amazing and changed the way I thought about language.”

Kareem Hill (P9 XXVIII/Andover) immersed himself in New Zealand’s indigenous culture through Student Diplomacy Corps, which included a home stay with a Maori host family. “Going to New Zealand has been a life-changing and beautiful experience. I learned the value of cherishing family and the lessons that they are able to pass down to you.”

Through the generosity of longtime Prep for Prep Trustee Eric Rothfeld, Prep’s donors, and partnerships with travel programs Student Diplomacy Corps, Calder Classics, and Amigos de las Americas, our students broadened their horizons in the following countries:

  • Albania
  • Chile
  • China
  • Dominican Republic
  • France
  • Greece
  • Italy
  • Japan
  • Mexico
  • Morocco
  • New Zealand
  • Paraguay
  • Spain
