Alums Appointed to Leadership Roles on Prep for Prep’s Board of Trustees

For the first time in Prep for Prep’s history, alums serve as Co-Presidents of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees. Yahonnes Cleary (P9 V) and Christopher James (IX) were appointed to the roles at the end of the fiscal year. Sue Meng (XV) became Executive Vice President, and Natalie Swaby Hutchinson (XIV) joined as Vice President.
As part of its ongoing succession plan for continued strong leadership on its governing board, Prep’s Board of Trustees announced new executive committee roles at the close of the fiscal year. We were thrilled to see two Prep alums lead the way as co-presidents to steer the organization into its fifth decade. Prep’s mission of developing ethical and effective leaders who reflect our diverse society hinges on the belief that more people in leadership roles should reflect the communities that they serve. We are excited to work with such a deeply involved, generous, and committed team to benefit even more Prep students for decades to come.

We are also grateful to see several members of the current Board step up into executive committee roles and renew their commitment to our students. Appointments made effective July 1, 2020 include:

Yahonnes Cleary (P9 V)
Co-President
Yahonnes joined the Board in 2018 and has served on its Alumni Affairs and School Relations committees. He was a key member of Prep’s leadership search committee.

Christopher James (IX)
Co-President
Chris also joined the Board in 2018 and has lent his expertise to Prep’s Alumni Affairs, Development, and Finance operations. He was also a key member of Prep’s leadership search committee.

Sue Meng (XV)
Executive Vice President & Secretary
Sue has provided pro-bono legal counsel to Prep since 2015, when she joined the Board as a Corporate Trustee. She was the first alum to serve on the Executive Committee and recipient of the 2018 Alumni Prize Award for service to Prep.

Nicole Arnaboldi
Vice President
Nicole was a longtime advocate for Prep students even before she joined the board in 2007. She has since facilitated professional advancement opportunities for our students and secured corporate support for Prep's programs. She also volunteers her time to serve on the Investments and School Relations committees.

Kenneth Caplan
Vice President
Ken joined Prep’s Board in 2014. He is an active volunteer with our College Guidance team to help Prep students practice college admissions interviews with his colleagues.

Natalie Swaby Hutchinson (XIV)
Vice President
Natalie joined the Board in 2017, as Prep’s first alum to be individually appointed as a Trustee. She lends her expertise to the Alumni Affairs, Board Relations, Development, and School Relations committees and volunteers for alumni-student events in the Preparatory Component.

Christopher Ortega
Vice President
Chris also joined the Board in 2017 after learning about Prep through its Board Chair. He volunteered his time as a member of Prep’s leadership search committee and serves on committees for fundraising and finance.

Prep for Prep is grateful for their ongoing commitment, and we look forward to their continued leadership and guidance.
