Prep for Prep Awards Alumni Prize to Renata G. Henry (XXII)

Prep for Prep is pleased to announce that Renata G. Henry has been selected as our 2022 Alumni Prize recipient for her years of service as a staff member and volunteer.
Renata began her career in education fundraising at Teach for America, where she found herself most attracted to the relationship-building necessary in the field. That passion, paired with a love for impact-based work, led her to her first position in alumni relations as the Special Projects Assistant at Prep for Prep. She then transitioned to the Hewitt School as Associate Director of Alumnae Relations before returning to Prep for Prep as the Director of Alumni Affairs in 2019. As Director, Renata dedicated herself to revitalizing alumni engagement efforts and bolstering alumni fundraising in support of student programming.

Renata was an alumni leader before joining Prep's staff. She began volunteering with Prep in 2013 as a fundraiser for the Alumni Giving Campaign. In 2015, she and fellow alumna Annika Lescott-Martinez (P9 XV) spearheaded the creation of the Summer Soirée, which became an annual alumni event geared toward increasing young alumni engagement. She was appointed to the Alumni Council in 2017, and served as an Alum Trustee on Prep for Prep's Board of Trustees. As an Alumni Council member, she chaired the Council’s fundraising committee while also volunteering as a school champion, admissions interviewer, and Preparatory Component panelist.

Renata was appointed to the role of Director of Alumni Relations at Grace Church School in July 2022. A Brooklyn native with roots in Guyana, Renata received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. In her free time, she volunteers with her alma maters, serving as a member of the Trinity School Alumni Board and as an alumni admissions interviewer at Penn.

The Alumni Prize has been awarded each year since 1989 to an alum who has shown a commitment to Prep for Prep's mission and giving back to the Prep Community. A ceremony recognizing 2022 Alumni Prize winner, Renata, will be held early next year.
